Image provided by Sweet Potato 3

Christine over at Sweet Potato 3 Patterns has announced that she is doing her Cancer Challenge again this year! This awesome challenge with a really great cause will be going on during the whole month of October!

She had some awesome designers taking part in the challenge last year and I am sure this year will be no different! All you have to do is commit to making the patterns that the designers have so graciously donated to this cause and donate them to cancer patients in need. (I know her pattern is one you wont want to miss, I was lucky enough to test it for her! So, look for that post coming as well.)

This is something that you will not want to miss out on! So, be sure to check back here and on Christine’s fan page below to get in on the fun!

Pattern Test for Sweet Potato 3 Patterns – 06

Christine from Sweet Potato 3 Patterns, had asked me to do a pattern test for something that I haven’t really worked on before. This one required a bunch of buttons and involved doing a pretty cool stitch. When I told her that I would test this pattern for her it made me think of back home in Western New York. Because I feel that it is something that you would use for a little one in cold weather… certainly not in the weather that we have here in good ‘ole SoCal.

This little Hooded Cocoon was so fun to make. I loved the way that the rows looked as I was working on them. I made mine in pink with clear buttons (to be honest that was the only kind of buttons that I had on hand, in the quantity that I needed for the project).

The pattern was really easy to work up, you basically construct it in a rectangle (she gives you really good measurements for the project so no worries there). Then when you get to the correct size you sew the buttons on and one of the edges together to form the hood part of the cocoon.

So, if you know a little one that needs a snuggly place to take a nap please check out The Button Up Waves Hooded Cocoon!

Just look at the texture on this project! Super fun with all of the waves!

Pattern Test for Sweet Potato 3 Patterns – 05

This pattern test will certainly make you go “awe”! I have a couple of friends with little girls so I just had to make a pair of these little Bloomers for one of them! I mean they are totally cute right?! Who wouldn’t make a little one in their life a couple of pairs of these?!

As always Christine’s patterns are super easy to follow along and understand. Don’t fret if you do come across something that makes you go hmmm, because she has really good customer service when it comes to her patterns!

I usually stick to hats when I crochet/knit things. But I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work on this one! Plus, I just knew there would be someone that could be a little model for it for me!

As always, the pattern was very easy to follow. You construct it one leg at a time before joining them together to do the main part of the bloomer. The pattern includes sizes from 0-3 months all the way up to 3t! How awesome is that?! They were so easy and fast to make that I can easily see myself making them in different sizes and colors so that my girls can wear them for a long time!

She suggested that we used either Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton or Caron Simply Soft, which is what I used. I just love how soft this yarn is and the sheen is to die for! Super cute! Here are a couple pictures of my little model wearing the Bloomer Shorts that I made using Sweet Potato 3’s pattern.

Don’t they look so cute?! Just imagine all of the possibilities that you can have with different yarn and ribbon colors!

Happy Crochet Month!! Spring Free Crochet Pattern Round-up and More!

This morning I woke up and had to make some phone calls to Miss M’s doctor and dentist to get her paperwork for school! Yes, I said school! On Friday I will be signing her up for Transitional Kindergarten (It would have been Kindergarten but she will have to wait another year for that due to the cut off changes). She is very excited… I am not so much. I can’t believe she will be 5 in about 6 months. That means her sister, Miss S, will be be turning 3 in one month! Eeek!!

Enough of the crazy Mom talk about how fast her kids are growing up… lets talk about what else is going on. Happy Crochet Month!

What a great time to be a crocheter! The weather is starting to get a little more on the Spring side with some elevated temps (although it been kind of cold here… mid to high 60’s here in SoCal). This is the time when we should start making all of our spring projects! And what a great way to celebrate crochet month then with Sweet Potatoe 3 Patterns!
